art in whitefield

our facebook group

Art in Whitefield is an informal, grass-roots, network of artists and people that want to encourage more art and culture in the town of Whitefield in Greater Manchester. I created Art in Whitefield as a Facebook Group shortly after moving to the area and realising that not a lot happens in terms of art and culture despite being a town of more than 30,000 people. We aim to change that, and the Facebook Group remains the heart of its structure and communication.

monhtly committee meetings

Our Facebook Group has shown that there are indeed artists in Whitefield, and our activities have begun to bring those artists and creative people together in a safe and welcoming environment. The next step is to better organise ourselves through sharing of knowledge, ideas, and means for collaboration and co-operation. This is the purpose for the monthly in-person meetings. If you are interested in joining Art in Whitefield, or just want to find out more, send an email using the link below.

A CALENDAR FOR LOVE SPRINGWATER PARK

2023 calendar featuring art and photography by artists responding to the wild and wonderful Springwater Park in Whitefield.

All proceeds from the sale of this calendar goes directly to Love Springwater Park - a volunteer group of local people who feel passionate about the park, working together so that more people in the community can enjoy and explore.

SPRINGWATER SKETCHBOOK WALKS & EXHIBITIONS

A series of 12 monthly guided walks through the wild and wonderful Springwater Park in Whitefield, that use drawing and walking to explore the woodland and help to foster a sense of a creative community spirit in the area.

Alongside the walks are 2 public exhibitions where all participants are invited to have their work professionally framed and exhibited. Supported using public funding from Arts Council England.

THE DRIVEWAY

The Driveway was a contemporary art space on my temporarily empty driveway at home. During my car-free period we had shows from 3 different artists in the area and whilst it was there, it was the only place in Whitefield where people could see contemporary art exhibitions.
