Summer of Play

July – September 2025

A series of four mark-making walks at National Trust Lyme, for children and their families. Together we explored the gardens and grounds and used mark-making to look and listen more closely and spark adventurous storytelling through the land.

RIVERSIDE PRINTS

Tuesday 22nd July

Use rocks, ferns, and other found materials to create prints and embossments on this approx. 2.5km walk that follows the river across gently undulating trails.

WOODLAND MARKS

Tuesday 5th August

Explore tiny worlds while making graphite rubbings with trees and leaves.

DRAWING WATER

Tuesday 19th August

Draw water, observe shimmering light, and notice slow and subtle movement on this short, mindful walk that will be less than 1km in length.

DRAWING DEEP TIME

Tuesday 2nd September

Unleash your inner geologist while hunting for rocks and get inspired by your surroundings on this short circular walk up to The Cage and back.
